OUR WORK

Our Work ?

We are doing one simple act. We are stopping the clothes from ending in the landfills. We are spreading and celebrating the act of sharing the current clothes and donating the older ones. And we are doing it in an inclusive way. This is our contribution to build a better and sustainable world.
Our work starts with creating awareness about the negative consequence of random purchasing and disposing of garments. We do it through social media and physical campaigns conducted at different places through the help of our volunteers. Bold hosts small activities in the beneficiary communities so that they can also contribute towards our cause. This help them receive the garment while maintaining their self-esteem.
Donation are conducted at different venues at different times. The donors receive live status of their items.
In this process we engaging the entire world. We want everyone to contribute. Whether you are a child or a housewife or a bus driver. Everyone can do his little part. We welcome everyone on board. Our tab of ‘How we can join’ will tell you how you can connect with us. For example, if you are a school student – you can spread awareness about the different competitions held by BOLD in your school, spread awareness through social media, etc. Every little help counts and every little effort will be appreciated by us in our website.

PROCESS

BOLD operates through both; its app and its website.

It will construct the bridge between the societies who have surplus clothes and the communities which require them.

Donation

Just upload the picture of your garment and provide some basic details to generate a serial number. Another way is to contact our volunteers who will collect the garments, sort and clean and distribute them among the underprivileged communities.

Credit Score

Through the details uploaded, your credit score is calculated. The credit score is based on the approximate carbon footprint saved by donating your garment instead of sending it to the landfills. Another measure that is, the amount of water saved is also taken into account.

Tracking

The app will track your product journey and give credits according to the clothing chart and the carbon footprint reduced.

Need for donation

Benefits:

Community Benefit:-

o The entire community i.e. both the donor and the receiver will be benefitted. In the physical form, the beneficiary will be benefitted by receiving a garment and the donor will be receiving credit points. However, spiritually, this initiative will aid in enhancing dignity and the confidence level of the needy people. It will also provide priceless satisfaction to the heart of the donors.
o By sharing garments, different people come closer and the gap between rich and poor lessens.
o The entire community will progress.

Sustainable Fashion Industry:-

o The initiative deepens the pressure on the concept of sustainable fashion. In 2017, the Boston Consulting Group took the pulse of the fashion industry. With a score of just 32 over 100, the management consulting firm found that the industry is slow to improve its sustainability.
o Hence, the more will the awareness and support of the public, deeper will the pressure on the fashion industry to strictly adopt sustainable business practices

Greener Environment:-

o As more and more clothes are rescued from being dumped in the landfills, lesser is the decomposing pressure on the nature. Many harmful gases like methane is also avoided from being released into the atmosphere. Also, the reusability of garment ensures that the mass production of garments decreases and thus many natural resources like water is saved. All in together, the carbon footprint of the fashion industry decreases.
o The first and most important reason is to honour the human right. In the month of October 2021, the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) recognised for the first time that having a clean, healthy and sustainable environment is a human right.

Smarter Economies:-

o Every nation around the world is spending a mammoth amount to curb the carbon footprint and pollution. Economies are also loosing talented workforce due to the harmful effect of pollution on their health.
o Unplanned consumerism can also create incentives for consumers to take on unsustainable levels of debt, which can contribute to financial crises and recessions.
o A nation can only become smart when its people become smart. Economies can only become smart when its workers and consumers become smart. Make informed choices. Take sustainable decisions.

Healthcare and Mental care:-

o Obsession of fast fashion has deep negative psychological impact. It also widens the gap between those who have surplus and those who are in need.
o Again the entire process of garment manufacturing possess grave danger to healthcare. Contaminated water, polluted air and other forms of pollution also lead to death.
o By adopting the concept of circular fashion economy, we can really save health and life.

Carbon Credit
By the process of borrowing, lending and donating, we are decreasing the amount of new garments produced and avoiding the produced ones from ending at landfills. This in turn saves the carbon footprint which could have been generated by those garments. BOLD relatively analised the carbon footprint generated by garments of different materials and allocates the equivalent credit points to the donors for saving or redirecting those garments. For example, the carbon footprint generated by synthetic garments is more than natural. Hence, the donor will get more points for donating synthetic garments.
To calculate the carbon credit coins, the donors need to answer 8 questions about the garment out of which 7 are compulsory. The optional question is about the material or fabric of the garment. However, if the donors answer this, they will receive additional 5 points.
There will be slight difference in points due to size difference, as saving larger clothes saves more carbon footprint. But this difference is minimal. It is because we believe that the intention holds greater power than the size of the garment. Therefore, the count of the garments donated matters more than the size of the garment. Another reason is the fact that women’s T-shirt is generally smaller than the men’s of the same age bracket. But this doesn’t means that her donation is less valuable than his. So, size will only a minimal role in earning the points.
At last there will be an option of ‘Add’ or ‘New’. ‘Add’ means the person will keep on donating the garments of same measurement as before. Then the question about his gender and age can be omitted. Eg: if a person A fills the details for donating the garment and then the next item also belongs to him then he again doesn’t need to answer his gender and his age. These 2 question can be omitted assuming the owner the garment is the same person who donated the previous garment. Therefore, the order of the question for his next donation will be top/bottom, material, item, size, brand and upload picture.
Next, suppose the person A will donate next set of garments belonging to his mother B. Then he will click on ‘New’. Now he has to fill the details once again from the scratch. It is because he is submitting garments of different measurement or of different person. After that he can click just on ‘Add’ till he is doesn’t change the person. When he again needs to change the person, he needs to click on ‘New’.
Answering all the questions is necessary for the serial number generation and tracking of the garment.
